The rustle of taffeta is unmistakable. It whispers “elegance elegance elegance” with each step. Usually reserved for party dresses and formal events, it also lends formality to this two-piece walking suit. Lightweight but crisp, the fitted jacket has princess seaming with front and back gussets for a tailored fit. The leg-of-mutton sleeves, lace-trimmed wing collar and covered buttons give it a distinct turn-of-the-century flair. And a matching skirt with elastic waist and double knife-edge pleated hem adds an air of genteel sophistication. Suitable for promenading, portrait-sitting or long carriage rides, this charming suit speaks a language of its own.
