Bought this in an XL because the large was out of stock. The skirt was a little roomy by itself, but with layers underneath, it was free enough to move in. A smaller skirt would not have been so forgiving. The jacket was the perfect fit for my broad shoulders (the entire reason why I was going to purchase a large instead of the medium my measurements call for) and the extra fabric in the torso gave me the illusion of being more buxom than I actually had. I would suggest wearing this with an overbust corset, as any time I lifted my arms, the blouse I wore with my underbust was clearly visible.
I got this ensemble in the hopes of making my usual Steampunk garb look more well put together. I added a black corset, stockings, boots, and other accessories. When I first wore my full outfit to a function (Abney Park concert) I got a lot of compliments. Awesome piece for every explorer, pirate or not.
