Just got my pair, and they look pretty nice, but there's a few things about these boots that will probably relegate them to cyber-punk and costume parties, instead of any kind of regular steam-punk use.

Most notably, these boots have an inside zipper.

Second, though the picture downplays it, these boots have an obvious Doc Martin style sole. Okay, pet peeve, but WHY DO ALL MEN'S BOOTS HAVE A DOC MARTIN SOLE?!? I would just go get a pair of women's boots, but I'm very sure they don't have my size. Anyway, it may not be as obvious on the grey, but still...

Finally, and this doesn't bother me particularly, but you should know before you buy: the front "covers" (with the "ruffles") on these are not sewn in place. I was a little sad to find that the black leaves a little white under-sheathing showing, but I've come to expect this on leather substitutes and the boot is otherwise well made to hide this).
