I ordered these red boots in a nine, since half sizes weren’t available. I normally take an 8 and a half. They’re quite big, so I have to wear thick socks, or low socks over stockings. Other than that, I must say these are my favorite boots. I’m not a big fan of heels, but these are low enough to keep me steady. I love how the “buttons” really snap – they aren’t just for show. These boots remind me of those old-fashioned “button-up ankle boots” I used to read about in historical fiction. I wish I’d had these boots when I was in junior high – younger me would’ve been so ecstatic!
My boots arrived five minutes ago! They look exactly like I wanted them too, and fit even my wide foot EXCEPT I can't snap them. I don't know if I can have them stretched a little bit or if I need to trade them for a bigger size and deal with the length. There is NOT a zipper. I thought maybe they changed the style from the other review saying there is no zipper, because it says in the description that there is one. But as of October 2012, there is NO zipper. If your foot isn't wide, you may be able to snap them easily but for me they just won't go.
Cute red boots, exactly as pictured. Size 8 fit my 7.5 feet fine, even a little roomy. Only, there is no zipper, and it is a pain to close the snaps on the outside. The leather is stiff, and there is one snap that opens when I go up or down the stairs; the rest stay fine. But they are comfortable and snazzy-looking so I am happy with them.
The snap closures on these shoes make it impossible to secure them if your foot doesn't match the exact shape of the shoe. My foot does not have a high arch nor do I have large ankles, but I find that I am unable to close them at all by myself. When someone closes them for me, the slightest pressure during normal walking forces the snaps open.
I even ordered a size 8 although I normally wear a 7.5.
A zipper hidden behind the 'buttons' would have been a far better closure idea.
Sadly, I think that I will have to give these a a present to someone, since I will be unable to wear them myself. I do not recommend them unless your foot is quite small.
These shoes are absolutely gorgeous. They're a bit brighter shade of red than the picture, which was preferable to me. I have danced ballet my whole life and therefore have a very high arch in my foot. The bottom three snaps won't snap for me, which sort-of renders them unwearable, but I definitely recommend this shoe for anyone who has dainty feet. x3
